Umar Basiru wins Ethiopian Premier League with promoted Ethiopia Nigd Bank
Midfielder Umar Basiru has won the 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League with Ethiopia Nigd Bank, the club’s first-ever title .
The former Asante Kotoko and WAFA player was a firm staple for the side as he scored seven goals, provided nine in 30 appearances.
On the final day of competition, Bashiru provided an assist in the crucial 2-0 win over Ethiopian Insurance which secured the title.
Ethiopia Nigd Bank, also known as CBE-Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, won the league with 64 points; a one-point ahead of Mechal Sports.
They gained promotion just this season but managed to shock stellar clubs like St George, Ethiopia Coffee, former champions Fasil City and Hadassah.
