Hector Fort, a teenage defender, has officially signed a new deal with FC Barcelona that will keep him with the team through the summer of 2026.
In 2023–24, the 17-year-old right-back, along with other academy graduates Fermin Lopez, Pau Cubarsi, and Lamine Yamal, had his breakout season.
In keeping with their example, the young player has agreed to a new deal that will keep him with the Catalan team through 2026.
The club released a statement saying, “FC Barcelona and the player Héctor Fort have reached an agreement for the extension of his contract, tying him to the Club until 30 June 2026.”
At the club’s facilities today, Fort signed a new contract in the presence of Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, Rafa Yuste, vice president, Joan Soler, director of youth football, and Deco, sports director.
Fort is expected to sign his new deal by the end of the day, as was previously reported. This has finally happened.
The new contract that the team disclosed only lasts until 2026, despite the fact that numerous trustworthy sources had previously indicated that Fort’s renewal would last until the summer of 2029.
Fort cannot sign a contract longer than three years because he is still only seventeen years old. This could be the reason. There might be a plan to further extend his contract after he turns 18 in August.
